Many of our gardens have areas of shade particularly under trees and it can be difficult to get plants to grow in such situations.
Some (not all) spring flowering bulbs thrive in such situations, particularly under deciduous trees which are bare during the winter.
The bubs get all the winter sunlight that they need to bloom during the spring and then they are protected by the leaf canopy, creating the heavy shade that they need during the summer months.
I don't recommend planting in areas that are in constant shade beneath evergreen shrubs such as Conifers or Laurel as very little if anything will grow beneath such plants
