Lawncare

Everyone's idea of Lawncare is different and that's because everyone's idea of the perfect lawn is different.

You may be the type that sees all weeds as wildflowers, sustaining biodiversity and life and thus you might be happy for your lawn to be a bit more wild and unkempt.

Your approach to Lawncare will therefore be quite different to those who want an immaculate, grass-only area without a blade out of place - You know what type you are!!

What I have in this Lawncare collection is a selection of Lawncare products which are environmentally sound and proven to be very effective.

In the first instance we need to understand what lawns and grass areas need and what are the challenges.

Firstly, for grass to thrive it needs the soil to be at the correct pH, slightly alkaline. 

To maintain this pH use a product like Lawn Gold which contains Calcium to maintain the optimum pH for grass growth.

Thatch, which is a build up of dead and decaying matter at base of the grass plants along with moss will lead to very poor growing conditions for grass and thus need to be controlled.

Scarifying your lawn once a year in March is an excellent Lawncare habit to get into.

It is like roughly raking the lawn and top inch or two of the soil surface and it results in physically lifting the thatch and moss away from the soil surface.

After scarifying, apply a dressing of Lawn Gold Classic which will deliver the correct nutrient mix to the root zone for early season growth along with maintaining the correct soil pH which is a pH at which moss cannot grow.

Maintain the standard by a further application of Lawn Gold this time, Lawn Gold Summer Green and follow up in late autumn with an application of Lawn Gold WInter Protect. This 3 Step approach over the year will maintain the correct nutrient balance at the correct time of the year, all the time maintaining the optimum pH for grass growth which means moss has no opportunity to get a foothold.

Aerate the lawn in the autumn if you so wish to further improve growing conditions

Whatever your approach to Lawncare, please DO NOT blanket bomb your lawn and garden with lawn weedkillers unnecessarily as thes can contain chemicals which are very damaging to surrounding wildlife, bees and other pollinators along with nearby plants.

I do not recommend using any of these damaging chemicals and you will not find them available on this webstore.
