What Ask Peter Can Help You With

Ask Peter Lite is perfect for everyday garden questions such as:

  • What should I plant in shade / sun / wet ground?
  • Why is this plant struggling?
  • When should I prune, feed, or divide something?
  • What should I be doing in the garden this month?
  • How do I deal with common pests, diseases, and plant problems?
  • What are good plants for beginners or low maintenance areas?

It gives instant, friendly, general advice tailored to Irish and UK garden conditions.

What Ask Peter Doesn’t Do

To keep the free Ask Peter version helpful for everyone, it focuses on general guidance, not full garden design or personalised planning.

That means Ask Peter:

  • Can’t view photos (the platform doesn’t support image uploads).
  • Doesn’t create detailed planting plans tailored to your exact garden.
  • Doesn’t offer full redesigns or long-term coaching.

If your question needs deeper, garden-specific help, Ask Peter will point you to the right next step, whether that’s a Garden Guidance Session, a Planting Plan, or Ask Peter Premium.

Ask Peter is designed to give you clarity quickly but also to let you know when your garden would benefit from more personalised support.

If you ever feel:
“I wish this could go deeper,”

“I want advice specific to my garden,”

“I’d love help over time, not just a once-off tip,”

that’s exactly what Ask Peter Premium is for.

Premium will offer tailored garden guidance, seasonal coaching, and exclusive resources to help you improve your garden with confidence.

FAQ

Is Ask Peter free?

Yes. You can ask as many gardening questions as you like, any time. It’s a free tool designed to give you honest, practical advice based on my experience.

Does Peter answer the questions personally?

Ask Peter uses a digital version of me, built from my own gardening knowledge, writing, media work and experience. It gives the same advice I’d give you in person.

Is the advice suitable for Ireland & the UK?

Absolutely. All advice is tailored to Irish and UK conditions, wildlife considerations and seasonal variation. This is what encouraged me to create this service as so much content online and from AI is generic and not suitabkle to Irish conditions, if even correct at all.

When should I book a consultation instead?

If you need a full plan, planting list, layout ideas, or help redesigning a space, an Online Garden Consultation or Planting Plan is the best place to start that process. You can book your time here

Is Ask Peter wildlife-friendly?

Yes. All recommendations follow sustainable, chemical-free, wildlife-friendly and ecologically sound gardening principles.

Can you help with a full garden design?

Yes. If you’re planning a bigger project or a full garden makeover, you can book a full Garden Design service here.
